Izzy Rose (ISTD)

Programme Ambassador and Choreographer – SOSA Dance Fitness U16’s

I have been dancing Ballroom and Latin from the age of five and was introduced to many different genres of dance, such as Disco, Tap and even Sequence. From a young age I began dancing in ISTD competitions, and at the ages of 6 and 11 I won the ISTD Grand National Titles in Blackpool. I loved competing and showing off what I could do, and even at that young age my dance passion came from the heart.

At Juvenile level I was approached by a boy that was interested in dance partnership and we competed in ISTD and open couples competitions, with our major achievements being placed 1st at Champions of Tomorrow U14’s and 5th at Stars of the Future. After 3 years together I decided to pursue my passion for teaching dance, so at the age of 14, I began teaching Ballroom and Latin classes at a well established dance studio and have been ever since.

SOSA then caught my eye, and I saw what a great concept it was! Low impact element, authentic dance steps, SOSA has it all! There is nothing like taking a SOSA Dance Fitness class and feeling like one big dance family! For almost a year I have taught SOSA to women in my area and after a class, all of them leave with a smile on their face, which as an instructor is priceless to see. I intend to continue teaching SOSA for as long as I can, because after all, dance makes me the happiest me I could be!

Kathryn Tappenden

Programme Ambassador – SOSA Dance Fitness

As a child, I was inspired by the Principal of my dance school and I knew that somehow dancing would consume my life.

As an adult, I attended dance fitness classes every week and was in awe of the instructors –they had the passion that I knew I still had. So, 22 years after hanging up my dancing shoes I swapped heels for bloch’s and booked onto a SOSA training course in October 2016! I was doing my ETM Level 2 at the time so I really had my work cut out.

My classes started in January and I now teach 6 sessions per week. I love how my participants react at class and each session gives me great pleasure and makes me appreciate the magic of realising my dream.

My partner and son are a huge support and never complain about enduring my never-ending exuberance whenever I’m preparing for class. Now I am inspired by Katy and by the brand she has formed. SOSA classes are an ideal way for anyone to dance, get fit, meet new people and move more. SOSA is a wonderful family to be a part of and I am excited to be part of the growth.
